These Tattoo Dolls make such a charming couple. I think they have a retro boardwalk meets punk-rock vibe. Hayley giggles every time she looks at them!

The Gorilla Got Tagged - As in Graffiti! I’m not sure if this was a gift for Dad or 1 year old Mia, but it may be Mia’s first work of art to be cherished by the entire family for ever more. Maybe Mia will be the next Banksy!
I’m afraid, right now, the gorilla looks as though he’s in recovery, maybe it’s more like a tattoo.

Hot off the screen - me on “The Goods” this morning on NBC. I’m talking about elements of the Industrial Victorian.

This is truly exciting, ground breaking and perhaps the most important technological development since the millenium…a GOOD LOOKIN’ LIGHT BULB that’s energy efficient! YAY!!!!! See, I wasn’t over-hyping it.
So keep buying all of our beautiful light fixtures that look great with very inefficient filament “Edison” light bulbs. I’m sure someone will figure out how to make these for American fixtures any minute.
Whoever it is, will be RICH! Hey, I should try to figure it out…..

London design brand Hulger has launched Plumen, a product it describes as “the world’s first designer low-energy light bulb.” It lasts 8 years and isn’t fug. Nice!

I wish I were in Detroit today. If you are you should be at the Dally in the Alley - Downtown! I usually receive fun pics from folks. (hint, hint)

This just looks like a set-up for Wile-E Coyote! But, I kinda like it anyway.

Things that make me happy: Robots & Hippos & a Trophy too! Is the trophy for building a robot or for catching a hippo? Little scenarios of ridiculousness. What in your home makes you happy?

This is why I spent most of a glorious weekend inside. It was just so pretty inside too.

Not my typical post, but this is hypnotically beautiful. It’s an early color film test. The color, cloths and girls are otherworldly. It is silent, which is part of what is beautiful. No over-stimulation, just something to sit back and appreciate on this Labor Day weekend.

Some of the earliest colour moving pictures in existence, circa 1922.

Is beautiful.

This “Blue Nude” appealed especially to our gay neighbors. As kids when we asked what they were doing, my Mom’s reply was a rather disgusted face with no further explanation. I do remember some of our neighbors teasing her about it.

The “Blue Nude Room” was a favorite by us and most of our neighbors. A muralist had painted all 4 walls with extremely animated nude statues in pretty spectacular cloisters. I have to think it was once a fabulous flower room. While we lived there it survived the indignity of ketchup and jam fights, but it was the need to insulate the walls that was it’s final undoing. Sadly it is a very beige TV room now.

Our house was built just around the time of the influenza pandemic which killed 50 million people. This guy, also on our front porch, looks like maybe he might have been suffering from the flu. We used to have a table and chairs just beneath him on the porch. It was kinda funny that he looked like he was about to throw up while we were eating. His open mouth would have made more sense had he been a down spout, but he and his friend are purely decorative carved wood. I wonder what the architects motivation was for putting such morbid images at the entrance to our house?

Dear Tumblr,

Why can’t you post my queue in order and not multiple times and sometimes with a malfunctioning link? You know I love you, but….
