Thank you @elledecor for using so many pieces from Michele Varian in this beatuful spread. Even though, we don’t have a piece in every photo, we have something in most of them, which means the style of the photo shoot is very much my flavor. So, I posted the whole thing for everyone to enjoy and be inspired to go out and pick up your own copy. Just son’t drool on the pages. These dark images won’t hold up to much salivating.

I found an assortment of these rubber jewelry moulds on the street years ago. #DesignTV I could have sold them for a tidy sum a number of times over the years. Even Celery Kemble’s husband to be offered to buy them.

These vintage ivory eyeliner bottles are some of favorite pieces. I like them paired with these modern bottles which are cast from found bottles in porcelain. Kinda makes them “finds” too.

I was just told by new assistant that we’ve shown her more ways to use packing tape than she ever knew existed.

My sisters are cracking up as they read this, because they know my Grandma was kicked out of the house when she came to “help out” shortly after we (triplets) were born, because she had spent most of her time “redecorating” with duct tape.

I promise no decorating was done with packing tape, but I did just show my assistant how to repair the vacuum cleaner tube with (head down in shame) tape.

Some may consider this sacrilege, but I think it’s pretty great. Please, someone tell me if this is from ABC! It is screaming to have been touched by Melena.

Sibella Court is featuring our store in her next book! Before helping out on Man Shops World, she’s been a long time browser of our store. She came by to take photos the last time she was in NYC. Attached are photos from her current book, Etcetera, which has won some prestigious design awards.
Bravo, Sibella!

Did you know Dorothy Draper designed the previous cafe at the The Met Museum? By the time my Mom and I started going there in the 1970’s, it was well past it’s prime and many of the elements seemed inexplicable. It sure looked like there had been a pool at the center, which created an echo chamber type ambiance now that it was empty. Not very pleasant at all. Well, it had originally been a reflecting pool with dancing sprites and birdcages. By the time we began going there, the pool had been drained and the “Dorotheum” was very short on charm. Above is a photo of it in it’s glory.

Just In: Satsuma Lamp of Radiating Wooden Slats by Jonas Damon reminds me of origami. More specifically the “birdhouses” we used to make as kids our of my Grandparents old Reader’s Digests. The attached image from Apartment Therapy looks an awful lot like them, but maybe with some more class.

Just Pretty: Ethnic Hodge-Podge. The Geisha is actually a “gift wrap” by my friend, Sarah. She’s a shell that opens in the center, where her obi is. Pretty clever, huh?  The elaborate tassels that are hanging above are Vintage Banjara Armbands.
