My sisters and I used to have a bunch of large, rusty metal toy trucks, much like this one. We are still here to tell the tale with no injuries as far as I can remember. The only thing is that, at the time, we really would have prefered new toys, not garage sale finds. Except for the firetruck. The firetruck was really cool.

Red Racer Sit-On Toy Car. He’s not quite the knock out that Nika Zupanc’s racer is, but this little guy appeals to me because of it’s retro simplicity. It is also much more “simple” price. Oh, yeah, and that’s a real horn. It kinda sounds like a clown horn. It’s available at our store on Crosby St for $98.
My favorite cartoon growing up was Speed Racer. My sisters will tell you all about it if you ask.

Happy Valentine’s Day. Here, have a flower that won’t die.

Sneak Peak at one of my newest collections of pillows. It will be in store next week. See the next post for post-inspiration. I make myself laugh. I no longer exhibit at the NYIGF, so if you want to see in person, you’ll have to come down to my store on Crosby St. (Michele Varian, 35 Crosby St, between Grand and Broome St., NYC)

Just Pretty: This Vintage School Chair was left on a moving van, perhaps because it weighs a ton. Believe it or not, the owner of the van was happy to unload it to me. Score! These are my sassy version of cowboy boots. The books were found in a Detroit junk shop and were $4 to $5 each.  Some of them were from the 1700’s, but most from the 1800’s. Besides being beautifully embossed and/or gilded, they’re really wacky. The “Key to Boston Inside Out” on the inside has stories such as Exploits of Billy the Kid, Plotting Against a Priest, The Church Blamed for His Downfall.
I’m not lying.

Just Pretty: A shot inside my apartment taken by stylist Hilary Rosbertson while working on a shoot for Elle Decoration.  I love the pattern combination of the tray, dishes and sari.
